Our History

This company was first known as the Ablekuma North Teachers Association and was later known as Ablekuma Teachers Co-operative Credit Unit (GNAT) in February 2006. The idea was first seen by J. A. Solomon when he was the GNAT local chairman of the Kwashieman Circuit in Ablekuma as Sabbath town in Accra. He first sold the idea to the GNAT schools’ representatives and went ahead to constitute a three-man member to help him achieve these objectives. These members included himself, Obiri Antwi and Doris Tetteh. He successfully separated the administration at the land scheme from the GNAT local Administration. As time went on, the secretary who was Obiri Antwi could not work effectively as expected due to transfer and domestic problem and therefore was replaced by Mr. Bright Wright who was the secretary to the GNAT Circuit Administration. It must be made clear that Bright Wright was asked by Mr. J. A. Solomon to assume the responsibilities as secretary of the scheme. The first place was at Ablekuma around P.C.P, but could not be pursued due to lack of document.

The scheme strived hard and finally had another land in Olebu and prepared it and allocation was made to member in 2009. After that allocation, Mr. J. A. Solomon with the help of one Asafoatse Idrisu had another place in Apollonian near Oyibi, prepared that land too and allocation was made in 2010 with the help of my executives.

The activity went beyond the teacher spectrum as a result; the executive decided to regularize the activities of the scheme by acquiring an office in 2009 and turn the scheme into a company thus Legacy Homes and Investment. (The Ablekuma Teachers Co-operation Credit Union—ATCCU).
